 I searched up information about horror  because I chose horror for my genre. Horror is a genre of film that is meant to be scary as a purpose of entertainment. The filmmakers of horror films try to bring up your worst fears and nightmares to get a big scare and rush of adrenaline. Usually in horror films it shows what characters are afraid of instead of saying it. There are usually a lot of jump scares in horror films. A jump scare is a technique usually used in horror films where there is an abrupt change in an image that usually goes with a loud sound. Horror films usually take place in an abandoned house, dark place, warehouses, and dark fields. The antagonist is usually portrayed in a dark shadow or silhouette

 Some things that make horror movies what they are is a memorable but frightening menace, the element of surprise, the dark, and suspense. The suspense is there so when the action finally happens it comes out of no where and surprises the viewers. The use of sound is also used to create suspense as music intensifies as the build up happens towards the action scene. The key to horror films is to provoke the fears and nightmares to get big scare out of the audience.
